Former Alaska governor and GOP rock star Sarah Palin finally weighed in on the commutation of Maurice Clemmons, an issue that has brought former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee a fair amount of heat over the past week and a half.

“It was a bad decision obviously, but my heart goes out to Huckabee,” the former Alaska governor said of her potential 2012 GOP presidential rival during an interview Monday with conservative radio host Lars Larson. “I love him, and I feel bad for him to be in this position. But I feel even worse for the victims’ families in this situation.”

Ouch. The issue doesn’t appear to be affecting Mr. Huckabee’s poll numbers. Yeah, ’cause no one’s issued the scathing attack ad we all know is in the can. And 2012 buzz continues to build for South Dakota Sen. John Thune, the guy who knocked off Tom Daschle in 2004. The Think Tank still says watch out for Mississippi governor Haley Barbour.

Mr. Huckabee will speak at the Clinton School of Public Service on Dec. 14th.

Oh, no — there haven’t been any attacks at all —

By the way, are you both deaf and blind?

Well, the people being polled apparently disagree with you, and Palin and Malkin and on and on. And you might want to browse around a bit; there are about ten new articles within the last two days all turning the tide in Huckabee’s favor — the latest by Michael Gerson, Washington Post.
