Jason Tolbert, Mr. Insider in Arkansas Republican Party politics, notes that Karen Ray, the current executive director of the Arkansas Republican Party, is returning to Mississippi while her fiancee attends medical school. Anyway, there’s going to be a vacancy in the position and, assuming Chairman Doyle Webb doesn’t make a power play to get money for his own (ceremonial) job, the party will need to fill it.
I make fun of David Kinkade of The Arkansas Project all the time (See about three hours ago), but I’m dead serious when I suggest that he’s a perfect fit for that job. I’m speaking against my interest, of course, but if the RPA really wants to get back on its feet, putting Mr. Kinkade in that job is the biggest step it can take.
Mr. Kinkade and I have a bit of a traveling road show. Unconventional Wisdom, Talk Business with Roby Brock, a few weeks back at the Arkansas Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators.
You think I’m kidding? Hey, I’m not funny. And I don’t tell a lot of jokes. Mr. Tolbert may be kidding. I’m not.
UPDATE: Mr. Tolbert thinks I’m getting all Clintonian on the RPA. If the RPA is silly enough to ignore the recommendation because I made it then they’re dumber than a sack of chicken beaks.
UPDATE II: More on this from Rett Hatcher and Mr. Kinkade himself.
UPDATE III: Mad Max Brantley at the Arkansas Blog has the background on Chairman Webb’s efforts to try and combine the chairmanship and the executive director position for the small price of $100,000 payable to himself. An additional $60,000 would have gone to a finance director. The RPA executive committee tabled the matter for further talk. Shocking.
