NBC reporter David Gregory will take over “Meet the Press” on a full-time basis beginning next weekend. Tom Brokaw had been moderating since the death of Tim Russert in June. Mr. Brokaw will interview president-elect Barack Obama on his final show this Sunday.
In the past I’ve advocated for “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarbrough, although I recognized it was a longshot, especially in light of a potential radio gig on top of his television duties. Tina Brown of The Daily Beast advocated for Rachel Maddow, the iconic MSNBC analyst whose new show has been climbing the cable news rankings. She would have been a good pick, but you have to figure, like Mr. Scarbrough, the NBC News honchos aren’t willing to shake up MTP that much.
